I live with my ex-husband. We divorced three years ago but stayed under the same roof for financial reasons and to co-parent peacefully. Most days, we barely spoke beyond grocery lists and bills.

At first, I thought it was strange. Without asking me, he had replaced the bulb. When I questioned him, he simply said, “It’s for my father,” then walked away before I could ask more.

“I changed the light because Dad always said green meant hope,” he whispered. “And honestly… I’ve been feeling lost lately.”
For the first time since our divorce, I reached over and held his hand.
