My neighbor was having a loud party going on. She knocked on my door and asked for my Wi-Fi password to give to her guests. I refused politely. She frowned, rolled her eyes, and walked away. I thought that was the end of it.
A few minutes later, the music suddenly stopped. The laughter disappeared, and the whole building became strangely quiet. Then my phone rang.
It was my internet provider.
“Sir,” the woman on the line said nervously, “did you recently report suspicious activity on your network?”
“No,” I answered, confused.
“Well, someone has attempted to access your Wi-Fi over forty times in the last ten minutes. We temporarily locked your connection for security reasons.”
Before I could respond, there was furious knocking at my door. I opened it and found my neighbor standing there with several angry guests behind her.
“My party is ruined because of you!” she shouted.
I crossed my arms. “Because I didn’t give strangers access to my internet?”
One of her guests suddenly laughed. “Wait… you tried hacking his Wi-Fi after he said no?”
The hallway went silent. My neighbor’s face turned bright red.
Another guest shook his head and muttered, “That’s actually embarrassing.”
Within minutes everyone left her apartment. The party was over, and for the first time since she moved in, the building was finally peaceful.
