WIFE:
“I SWEAR, YOU’LL REGRET THIS! By the way, karma is SO REAL! Did my sister forget to tell you that she’s actually…”
She paused just long enough to watch the color drain from her sister’s face.
HER SISTER:
“Please… don’t.”
WIFE:
“Pregnant. And the baby isn’t yours.”
The room fell silent.
The husband stared at the sister in disbelief.
HUSBAND:
“What is she talking about?”
Tears filled the sister’s eyes.
“I was going to tell you… I just didn’t know how.”
“Tell me WHAT?!” he shouted.
She whispered, “The baby belongs to my ex. I found out after we started seeing each other. I hoped you’d never question the dates.”
The husband stepped back as if the floor had disappeared beneath him.
“You lied to me?”
She nodded, unable to speak.
The wife picked up her wedding ring and placed it on the table.
“You both betrayed me. Now you get to live with the truth you created.”
She walked toward the door without looking back.
Months later, the husband filed for divorce, and the relationship with the sister ended almost immediately. Trust had vanished, and guilt consumed them both.
